The Orb, The Fish, and the Marriage

A colleague in Las Vegas called me with an unusual question.

"Susan, have you ever worked on an energy orb?"

I hadn't.

But I was about to.

The story involved a happily married couple who had lived together for many years. They were responsible, communicative, and deeply committed to one another. Yet strange things had begun happening inside their home.

Lights that had been switched off would mysteriously be on when they returned.

Their automatic fireplace would activate itself even though neither of them had touched it.

And then something far more troubling began to happen.

Their exotic fish started dying.

The husband checked everything.

Water quality.

Temperature.

Filtration.

Chemical balance.

Nothing explained the losses.

Then they reviewed footage from their security camera.

There it was.

A small glowing orb, about the size of a softball, bouncing and dancing through their recreation room.

Now they had a mystery.

And they wanted answers.

When I arrived at the home, I met with both husband and wife.

Before looking for a solution, I wanted to understand the people involved.

How long had they known each other?

What was their relationship like?

How was the marriage?

As they answered, it became immediately clear that this was a loving partnership built on mutual respect

and admiration.

There was no obvious conflict.

No hidden resentment.

No crisis.

So I began walking through the house with a simple intention:

Show me what needs to be understood.

Then I heard it.

Not with my ears, but as a clear intuitive message.

"Ask them to be more playful."

The message continued.

"The way they were in the beginning."

That was it.

Playfulness.

I turned to the couple and gave them what was perhaps one of the strangest assignments they had ever

received.

For three days, I told them, practice being playful.

Tickle each other.

Wrestle.

Sneak up and say "Boo."

Laugh.

Be silly.

Stop being responsible adults for a little while and remember how you used to enjoy each other.

Then I shared what I was being shown.

The orb wasn't there to harm them.

It was demonstrating a message.

It was bouncing through the house because something in their relationship needed to bounce again.

When the message wasn't received, something else began happening.

The fish started dying.

That finally got their attention and motivated them to seek help.

I asked them to complete the assignment and report back in one week.

A week later, they did.

The lights stayed off.

The fireplace stopped turning itself on.

The fish were healthy.

Everything had returned to normal.

The mystery had been solved.

What fascinates me most about this experience is not the orb itself.

It's the reminder that solutions often arrive in unexpected forms.

Sometimes the answer to a problem isn't another analysis, diagnosis, or repair.

Sometimes life is simply asking us to reconnect with a forgotten part of ourselves.

In this case, the solution wasn't found in the electrical system, the fireplace controls, or the aquarium.

It was found in play.

And that was my first experience working with an orb.

Or perhaps more accurately...

my first experience being taught by one.
